Outlook: Vargas (26-4, 22 KOs) is coming off back-to-back losses to Sugar Shane Mosley, but he wants to end his career with a bang by taking out Mayorga (28-6-1, 23 KOs) in front of his Southern California fans in his final fight. The bout is being fought at a catch weight of 166 pounds.

Prediction: Both fighters are past their primes, but both are action fighters that should produce an entertaining bout. Vargas has sound fundamentals, but he has been known to throw those out the window and mix it up. Mayorga is a free-swinging brawler with a wild style. Mayorga has been trying to coax Vargas into a brawl. Look for this to b e a back-and-forth affair before the bigger, stronger Vargas stops Mayorga in the middle to late rounds.
