TUF 5 finalist Manny GamburyanThe UFC announced the undercard for “UFC 79: Nemesis” on Dec. 29 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

The non-televised fights are light-heavyweight Luis “Banha” Cane vs. James “Sandman” Irvin, lightweight Nate Mohr vs. Manny “Pitbull” Gamburyan, middleweight Jordan Radev vs. Dean “The Boogeyman” Lister, welterweight Roan “Jucao” Carneiro vs. Tony DeSouza and lightweight Mark Bocek vs. Doug Evans.

Cane (7-0), a Ryan Gracie protege from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, comes into the UFC with a reputation as fast starter, finishing all seven of his fights by KO, TKO or submission. Irvin (12-4-1), of Sacramento, has heavy hands and devastating knees, which make him one of the better finishers in the light-heavyweight division.

Mohr (6-4), of Crystal Lake, Ill., meets up with TUF 5 finalist Gamburyan (5-2) in a lightweight scrap. Mohr, a two-time Golden Gloves and kickboxing champion, has won five of his past six fights, including four by TKO. A severe shoulder injury forced Gamburyan to submit in the second round to Nate Diaz in the TUF 5 finals. Gamburyan has rehabilitated the injury and requested an immediate return to the octagon.

Bulgarian Olympic wrestler Radev (16-1), of Plodiv, Bulgaria, got a rude welcome to the UFC when he was knocked out by Drew McFedries in June. Radev is eager to get some redemption when he takes on San Diego’s Lister (9-5), a grappling and submission specialist.

Carneiro (11-5), of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, brings a 1-1 record into this welterweight fight against Peruvian DeSouza (9-3). Carneiro, who has moved to Florida to train with American Top Team, has a victory over Rich Clementi and a loss to Jon Fitch. DeSouza was one of B.J. Penn’s assistants on TUF 5, but after a year-long layoff he is ready to get back into action.

Bocek (4-1), of Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada, is a decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and grappler looking to make his mark in MMA beginning with a victory over Evans (6-1) in this lightweight bout. Evans made his mark in his UFC debut with a valiant effort in defeat to Roger Huerta.
