Amir Sadollah is one of 16 middleweights to fight their way into the house for a chance to win a contract with the UFC on Spike TV’s reality series “The Ultimate Fighter 7.”
Sadollah has been writing a weekly blog to give ocregister.com readers a behind-the-scenes look at everything that goes down in the house, during training and in the fights.
Sadollah made it to the finals where he will take on C.B. Dollaway in a rematch for a UFC contract on Saturday at 9 p.m. on Spike TV. Congratulations Amir. Good luck in the finals.
P.S. TUF 6 winner Mac Danzig blogged for ocregister.com last season.
EPISODE 12
I started writing this blog well ahead of viewing the episode, hoping to capture the multitude of feelings I want to cover in my final installment. I want to first thank all of you who took the time to read my blog and say how much I appreciate all the feedback I've gotten.
I look back pensively at what was no doubt the craziest ride I've ever been on in my life. Through all the trials and hardship, laughs and misery, I took a lot of life experience away from this show.
I will be forever changed from this experience, and I'm glad I have been given this avenue to share some of my input and thoughts on everything.
I am honored to have been able to be a part of what I feel was one of the greatest season of fights and talent to date on this show. I am eternally flattered to have so many people appreciate and support me through this period in life. I only hope I can continue to be worthy of your time and support this weekend and beyond.
I am writing this blog from memory, I wanted to capture my pure emotion and recollection from everything, rather than just specifically address what was shown. This chapter of my life will be forever etched in my mind and this has been a good tool to catalogue it.
This episode, filmed so many months ago, feels like it happened yesterday. Now, reliving this on the eve of the finals, the live conclusion to our season, the reality starts to sink in a bit. With each episode that aired, I was brought back to the inane possibility that this experience was real, already etched so vividly in my mind.
My fight with C.B. was the biggest test for me up to this point. I went into deeper waters than I had ever been, and I feel I came out stronger from the experience. Plus I got a cool new scar.
A few weeks after getting home, I received a call from Jamie, one of the producers of the show, asking if I could come back the weekend after the first episode aired. I jokingly asked if I was going to have to fight again, not realizing how close I was to the truth. I honestly believed that I was just going to do promo stuff. The possibility was mentioned even before we left the show.
Coming back to the gym, I saw an ambulance outside, Dana's Ferrari, and all our coaches' cars outside. Everything that was the norm to see on fight day of the show. I immediately thought, "I knew I should've brought my mouthpiece."
Hearing that J.T. was out, I felt very sorry for him. He made a mistake, as we all do, and it cost him. I know he will bounce back and go on to do great things and wish him all the best.
After Dana explained the situation, I was still processing everything, but it was time to watch C.B. and Tim's fight.
The gym was always so quiet during fights in comparison to the events full of spectators we are used to fighting on. Most of the time there are hundreds or thousands of people in attendance. You encounter relative silence during the show.
Now, with Dana and I the only real spectators, save the production crew and officials, it was even more quiet.
Tim and C.B. fought their hardest for three full rounds and left everything they had in the ring. I was actually really proud of both of them. I remember how nice it was to get back from the show and be at home and have some relief from the pressure of fighting and television. I can imagine it was quite an obstacle to be back and almost immediately click back into training for a fifth fight inside of three months.
In a weird way my rematch seems familiar somehow. I would almost dare to say I wasn't surprised. Not that I could've possibly forseen any of this, or did, but rather that it is a fitting end to continue the trend I had on the show so far: the hard way.
So now it will be C.B. and I again in the finals, a rematch, a first in TUF finale history. I am so glad to be able to be a part of the of the most competitive, entertaining season in the show's history. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
I just want to say how much this experience meant to me and to my 31 other brothers in the cage during this ride. I want to express my complete respect for each and every one of them. The athletes on this show put everything, their families, honor, respect, talent, and lives on the line for a shot at greatness. There is no doubt in my mind, that they achieved that, regardless of measured outcome.
I just wanted to say thank you to all family and friends, my morale support who have always believed in me. Thank you to my team at Combat Sports in Richmond where I "grew up" as a fighter. Thank you to my coaches on the show, Forrest, Mark, Cameron and Norm. They went way beyond any of my expectations as coaches and moral support.
Thanks to Warrior Training Center, Xtreme Couture and Legion Jiu Jitsu, all of whom helped me train harder than I ever have for this fight. Thank you to the O.C. Register for dealing with all my run on sentences and grammar mistakes and giving me the opportunity to share my thoughts with you.

A class act and a desrving champion .. that is who you are, not to mention a good writer.
Awesome. We just about flipped over a table last night at Big Al's when you won.
I remember asking you one time if you thought you would go pro - you said you hoped you could get to that level. I would say that making your professional debut in the UFC firmly qualifies for "that level."
wow!!! what a warrior i can definitely see you winning in the end and you being of great character is icing on the cake for me. good luck bro in the finale and hope to see you in huntington beach someday to congratulate you!!!
[...] Amir Sadollah’s Ultimate Fighter Blog (Episode 12) [...]
I've watched all the seasons and not since Forrest and Stephan have I seen a guy on the show nearly as personable as you. A guy that makes me try to explain "some of these guys I'd totally hang with, like that guy."
Add to that the exciting fights, good finishes and damage absorption and the sum total is a pretty awesome fighter.
I guess I'm trying to say: you have a fan in me.
cheers amir, i knew as soon as the season began it would be you two in the finale. you have a monster of a future ahead of you and i look forward to following it, cheers again.
You're humility & humor have made you the most compelling TUF contestant ever. No matter what happens this weekend, I"ll always be a fan. Best of luck against CB and in all future endeavors.
Your a class act. Good luck this weekend. I've been rooting for you since I saw you fight your way onto the show.
Awsome fight, keep it up and good luck on June 21st, we will be watching and cheering for you.
He has an interview he did before the show even aired on aroundtheoctagon.com
Good luck, Amir! Myself and the other girls I train in krav maga with are all pulling for you. Also, I am a part of a combat sports thread on t-nation.com and all the guys there are cheering you on as well. You have a huge well of support and good wishes coming your way! Go Amir!!
You're the MAN Amir! I knew you could do it and that you will again, you're a great addition to the UFC and you're gonna have a great run while you're there.
Dude, I jumped up and down and ran around my house when you won last night, bro. My dad doesn't give much credit to jiu-jitsu, but you showed him what it's all about. haha, I'm pumped for the finale! You'll beat CB just like before. Just don't underestimate him.
Plus, I vote to keep this blog up. I hope you don't plan on stopping just because the show is soon over. You shoul try an get an official page or something.
***You should try to get an official page or something***
Amir,
Gosh! I could not be happier for you right now. The fight was awesome. Despite fame, fortune, and success stay humble and always value people the way you did before all this awesome stuff happened.
Glorify the Lord Jesus Christ with the many gifts and talents he has given you.
Amir,
When the show first aired and you had to fight for your spot in the house, I automatically a fan of yours. I never missed an episode in which you fought and I will definitely not miss the finale. You won the match against C.B. once, You have the ability to do it again. Good luck and have faith in yourself, because I do. XoXo
Dude, in a sport where character doesn't necessarily correlate with talent, and where six weeks cooped up in a house would bring out the worst in everyone, you are a seriously a class act. Last week, I said, "If Amir, with his 0-0 professional record, beats Dana's golden boy CB, my head will explode with joy.' True.
Again - congrat on the win! Maybe this will help you out the way it helped me ... for cardio I went to Mt Rainier on a 2 days climb and measured an increase of 33% increase in my cardio. Incredible increase in a short time ... so train at high altitudes as much as possible for cardio.
You beat CB once, you'll beat him again. We are all watching and rooting for you.
hope u beat cb again. that would be the icing on the ice cream.
Amir is the man, love his attitude and love to watch him fight take to cb again
It's funny how many people say they jumped up and down when you beat CB; so did I. I was yelling and laughing. It was a thing of beauty to see your win. I'm with John Ray- 'glorify the LORD Jesus with your talent and opportunity'. Oh, and lock CB up in the next fight; put him on his head!
Huzzah for the underdog! You fought great and deserve it all. I swear you've got the most potential of anyone from the show. I was rooting for you the whole way. Congratulations.
Great entry Amir. You really are the man. Good luck in the finale.
WOW! Congratulations Amir!
Every season my sister and i always choose opposing teams to root for (team Rampage all the way baby, jk) but there was something about you that really made me say, "Gosh, I really like that Amir dude!" I'm sure you had that effect on a lot of people. You'll never believe me when i say this, but i told my sister that i wanted to see you and CB in the finale while the preliminary finals were taking place. I know, it sounds like a major brown noser but i really mean it. (As cliché as it sounds) you showed a ton of heart and i truly admired that about you.
Win, lose or draw you'll always be the ultimate fighter in my eyes!... I could ramble on all day, but I'll stop now for everyone else’s sake, haha!
You we're definately my favorite in the house no matter what team!
I really would've loved to be there for the war on June 21, but i will be doing something else:( Hey but we'll be at UFC86, maybe I'll see you at the weigh ins or something. If I do, I'll try not to be a crazy psycho fan, haha.
WITH MUCH LOVE XOXOXXOXXXXXXXXXOOOOXOXOXOXOXOXXOO
-GBY
good luck aziz.
you and mac have set a precendent for the next fighter to appear on the 'keep punching' TUF blog.
another odd similarity between you and mac? you both have the stoopid fresh racing stripes cut into your head.
win this one for the mother land,
sohail
p.s.
at, john ray and the other dude...i agree...its all JESUS CHRIST! he gave amir the strength and ability to beat his opponents, cause jesus TOTALLY hates wrestling based MMA fighters!
EVER SINCE THE FIRST EPISODE I KNEW YOU WOULD WIN WATCHING EVERY WEEK JUST CONFIRMED IT CONGRATULATIONS BRO
SAWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET me and my friend alex mckay here in Hanna Alberta have been cheering you on since day 1 man, we founded the unofficial 'Amir Fan Club', haha and i totally cut my hair like yours after your win against Harris! it was awesome haha, when you beat CB me and alex flipped (in a good way), we had been prayin for you in the finals for a long time and you sir ARE WICKED MWUHAHAHA lol crush CB in the finals man! GO TEAM FORREST, haha
You were too much in a hurry Amir, in your fight with CB. This time keep your focus and pick your
shots wisely. Please Amir, I know that you have
some great submissions, but --
DEFEND THE TAKEDOWN!!!!
I have belief that you WILL be The Ultimate Fighter 7
Champion.
God kid! You did good! I am an avid UFC fan. I started with season one and was hooked. I even turned my Husband on to it, and now he's hooked. You are by far my favorite fighter. Watching this season, it was so nerve wracking! We were literally on the edge of our seats for every single one of your fights. Every fight you had, you were so mesmerizing. The last episode, I doubt either of us blinked. It wasn't just your skills in the octagon either. Just you, being you, has won the hearts of everyone who is a UFC fan. Just raw honesty, and there is not one person who watched that did not see a champion in you. There are quite a few really good fighters that I don't cheer for, simply because of their attitudes and egos. You work hard, you never give up, and you are gracious with a heart of gold. It's the total package, and the mark of a true champion, a hero to kids and adults alike. You are respectful, and dignified and funny. I cannot think of a better person to represent the UFC and the image of true athletes. I wish you luck and I am definitely in your corner. I know that we will be seeing you in the UFC many times in the future, and I look forward to every minute of it! You have inspired a nation.
Allah Akbar, Amir won, i was jumping up and down as well and clapping, i think people need a humble hero to believe in and that's why you got a lot of fans, but i was your fan from the first episode because you're a muslim, and it is God who got you where you are, none of his creatures did.
I am so excited to see you fight on saturday -I know you can win. I knew we would route for you when we met you at Toad's place back before the season started and once you started fighting on the show I was sure you would be in the finally - great fighting - hope to see you in more UFC shows in the future - good luck
My husband and I always select who we think will be the finalist during the first episode of each season. Sometimes we're right and sometimes not, but there was no doubt after your first fight that you were our pick. You may have been the underdog on paper, but your patience and shrewdness played more like a longtime fighter. I actually got tears in my eyes when you won your fight with CB, which is a first for me! Good luck!
Amir you are by far the best fighter this season.... TAKE CB OUT AGAIN!!!!!
Add me to the list of ppl jumping up & down after that armbar!!! This is the first fight in 7 seasons of TUF that I couldn't stay seated for. You're trying not to hope too much for your fighter, especially as the clock is counting down in the last round, but damn, we all knew you could pull it out - we'd seen it 3 times already! It truly was the icing on the ice cream! =D
And yes, JT equally helped make this season special, too. I think this experience will help him grow as a person & he will be back stronger & more mature, which will only make him more dangerous (in the ring, I mean!).
I also think this was the most talented group of guys on TUF so far, and I really hope to see more from some of the guys who got eliminated early - there's a lot more talent there than we got to see from most of them.
Also... is it just me who finds it amazing that there were no serious injuries to any uneliminated fighters the whole season?
And now for the 1st time Amir, you don't know the outcome of your next fight before we do. I can't wait to see it, because I'm eager to see how much more you have improved beyond the amazing progress we already saw during the 6 weeks of taping. CB is also relatively new to MMA, so I expect his standup & sub defense will be better as well. Hopefully for him his cardio will have improved as well. It will be a great fight, for sure! Best of luck to you, & yes everyone loves a humble hero!!!
amir, this is the first comment i ever made on your blog because today is the first time i even knew you had one. i'm at work right now and i just finished reading all of your blogs in the past couple hours. i'm a slow reader. if i get fired, its because of you.
i think my favorite quote from your blogs is the bit about forrest yelling at matt to let the animal loose while he's doing anything. maybe after you retire, they should hire you to be a producer for TUF.
but seriously, you are an awesome fighter. and you seem like type of person that mike goldberg would call, "a nice young man". and you're pretty witty. and you made the 80's mullet look cool. and no, all these compliments do not signify that i have a man-crush on you. just that i'm a fan.
respect!
"i predict matt brown will win........by murder...."
greatest line ever
good luck
Amir you are by far one of my new fav fighters which is wierd because I really normally don't get into people from the show.
It would make my day to hear back, my email is flempipes@yahoo.com.
Good luck in the final. We will be watching and praying for you.
Amir, you are brilliant. I was rooting for you from the beginning, and you continue to impress us all. I'm looking forward to the fight tomorrow night- whatever happens, happens- you are a very cool human being with a good sense of humor, a calm fighter, easy going and good looking- not a bad combination. be safe! xx
i laughed and yelled with joy when you beat cb the first time, i know you can do it again GO AMIR
A class act! I can not wait for the finale!
yo amir, nice job in TUF.. im still so stoked that the guy i picked in day one made it this far.
by the way.. love the hair bro, keep it goin
Amir, thank you for the wit, humor, heart and tremendous fighting spirit you displayed throughout this season. Come show time tonight I'll be pulling for you to win. Guys like you are the future of MMA and no matter the outcome of the finale, you've already proven to the world that you belong in the Octagon.
Good luck, you're what is right about the sport and/or any sport for that matter. Bill Russel of the Boston Celtics used to vomit from fear before almost every game of his career and he won 11 World Championships...keep using your doubts to fuel you.
CB covers up his head with both arms too high and backs up whenever anyone throws a combination at his nugget. He's leaving his kidneys wide open for one of your Bas Rutten specials. Hit and run...hit and run... 3 good kidney hits and he's done for the night.
Now go get that contract.
Cheers mate!
Amir-o the Hero!
Good luck tonight! You're awesome (and pretty)!
Really really so happy you win!!!!
Good luck!!!
Heart, talent (both inside and outside the octagon), strength (physical and mental), wits, humor, focus, tenacity, personality...you've got it all! You are the most impressive underdog of all 7 seasons. I strongly believe tonight you'll come out on top as an Alpha Dog!
This is so cool, I can say I knew you before you were famous!!! Best of luck, I know you can do it, and it will be another amazing WIN for you!
Love Tracy
amir joon, the best thing about watching u fight and whooping up on them boys in the house is actually how humble and gracious u are in pre and post fight interviews. Sorry i cant say the same for myself, everytime i watch ur fights with my friends i always let them know u cant ... with them persian boys, they got too much heart and khayes. mobaraketbashe gharehman.
I think a good nick name would be
Amir "X - File" Sadollah
You never know what he is going to do to win....But win he will.
Great fight!
GREAT JOB AMIR! Awesome job in your finale fight. You beat him with the same move again, just took a lot less time this time. Anyways, I am super stoked that you are in the UFC and I look forward to seeing you fight your way to the top. You have inspired me to pursue an MMA career. Ever since you knocked out Harris I have had your back in every fight.. THANK YOU for giving me a reason to live out my dreams.
hey just watched the finals wanted to congratulate you on the win even tho i already considered you the winner once jt was let go so i hope the best to you and hope to one day soon see the ppv where amir sadollah becomes ufc champ
Perfect repeat performance tonight vs CB Dolloway. I am glad that you won, but want to see CB fight again. He is a good fighter, he just doesn't have a good answer for you. I was rooting for you since you first made that bet with Forrest, and ever since then you have been coming from the brink of defeat after I already counted you out. Awsome fights, can't wait to see you again in the octagon.
You really are a class act Amir. Your cool and funny as well as humble. Wish there was more guys like you out there. Props to your Parents, It is obvious they raised you right . You have some wicked kicks! You have a ton of heart when you fight, reminds me of another fighter years ago, his name was Oleg Taktarov (may have butchered the spelling) I look forward to watching you fight for years to come.
Again Congrats!
Jim
Amir! I'm proud of you man! I knew you would do it the whole time. haha, keep it up, bro!
bro you are a really great fighter.
CB thought he was all that, and you proved him otherwise.
really good fight.
i hope to see more of you man!!!
Oh my gosh!!! You owned!!
I was so surprised and THRILLED every time you fought ... and won !
I have watched every episode of every season but I have never rooted for any other fighter as hard as I cheered for you. Intelligent, decent, hard working, humble ... to me you embody what is best about your sport. Congratulations and please take the sagacious advice Kendall and DIego gave you. I want to be watching you for a long time.
-Old Dude with life's experience
Amir,
Great job, you conduct yourself the way a professional should. Love the dry sense of humor.
Enjoyed reading all the blogs.
It was great to watch this season of TUF too.
If Jessie does get a chance to make it into the UFC, it would be easy to build up the Amir vs. Jessie fight, so hope you get a nice payday out of that some day. I hope Amir has a nice career in the UFC. It seems like they pay the fighters so little for the amount of skills and work you guys put into it.
Congrats! To me, you were the most deserving of winning on that show! Great Job and I wish you the bets in the future! Now let's see you beat anderson silva
Will there be a final blog... post finale win?!
Congrats on the win! It seems you were the only one that was well rounded... known as a striker but submitted almost everyone haha... CB and Jesse just try to wrestle you to death and Tim and Dante should stick to just jiu-jitsu...
I'm pumped you won. You have incredible heart and are a total babe!
As unrelated as they may be, it's too incredibly true to not mention.
Great to see that a huge ego and a gorrilla's build aren't what counts in the octagon. You've shown that having a huge heart, great technique and an iron will are what counts. Watching you submit CB (again) in the finale was one of the most enjoyable moments I've had watching this show. Best of luck and thanks for the inspiration!
well done Amir, loved your fights and watching you on TUF. enjoy the win - you deserve it, kelly x
Amir,
You were AMAZING! It was so fun to watch you catch C.B. in an arm bar - again. You've been my favorite since your first fight on the show and I thought I was going to pee my pants during the final, which I only saw yesterday (was waiting for my husband to get home from Seattle so we could watch it together.) I've never been so excited about anyone winning a fight. I was jumping up and down and shouting and doing a victory dance, and my husband was like, "hey, you just had back surgery last month, you need to settle down". So I did, but only on the inside.
Looking forward to cheering you on for a very long time!
Anne
Way
brilliant to see you come through amir especially with all the other fighters being so awesome as well.was amazing to watch you win a warrior like cb twice and with no help from dana white.great to see that crocodile smile on his face when you won because it didnt seem like he wanted it.all the best to you you deserve it.
Your fans and I want more blogs. Tell us about the finale and more. Also tell us about Forrest and Rampage's fight coming up. And more importantly tell us how you do this. You go against excellent fighters, let them think they are winning and out of no where you pull a stunt to finish the fight. It is such a thrill to watch your fights and read your blogs. You should get the athlete of the year award and you are certainly the best role model for youngsters.
Great job !
Amir has shown himself to be perhaps one of the most memorable contestants on TUF - and a surprising tenacious fighter with tons of heart.
Despite the doubts and lack of experience, Amir showed heart and the ability to bounce back,
With a lot of training and more experience, Amir may have a bright future.
I wish to welcome Amir to come by and chat at our forums, Cameldog (www.cameldog.net), as well as all of you.

Amir-
You are an amazing individual. You can tell by the way you hold yourself, that you would do great with anything you choose to do in life. Your parents should be very proud of the wonderful man you are. I would like to thank you for you for for giving me a reason to try again. You and I have pretty much identical personalities. Life took hold of me at a pretty young age, and I found myself compromising until I hardly recognized the person I had become. The first time I saw you on the Ultimate Fighter, it started to really get to me. I could see the life in your eyes and the smiles on everyones face when you were around. Long story short, you've inspired me to find myself again. Congratulations on the fight. I knew you could do it! I hope you achieve everthing you dream of and never, ever change.
p.s. You must have one amazing family!
First and foremost, words can not describe how impressed and proud I am for Amir for winning TUF. Just absolutely amazing and great performance throughout the show.
@MMAFAN and All
I have had the great experience of training with Amir since early 2001 here in Richmond VA, Many say he has had no experience when that is actually not true. It is true that he has no professional MMA experience. However, he has had a substantial and extremely successful amateur MMA and Kickboxing career, participating in 15-20+ fights throughout the years before coming to TUF. He has won just about every match that I can recall in his amateur career in both Kickboxing and MMA. He gained a loyal local following and fighting experience in “combat sport challenge” events here in RVA - http://www.combatsportschallenge.com. You can navigate the site and find old photo’s of some of his bouts. His great personality and humbleness that sets Amir apart from almost all fighters has been with him ever since day 1 in the gym when he joined just as a hobby.
As an old sparing partner his last minute “out of no where” submissions and knockouts are not necessarily unplanned. He is an expert at “baiting” individuals when grappling/submitting as well as setting up knock outs (knee’s) from unorthodox stances. As mentioned in various articles, Amir has a surgical technician background and he definitely applies that type of mentality to grappling and standup fighting. Additionally he believes in experiencing/learning as many styles as he can. He has spent time in Thailand and Holland training in an extremely high contact form of kickboxing, basically “living” with the gyms for several months at a time. His ground and wrestling skills have also been developed/sharpened by many many many many many long hours in the gym working from the basics up to extremely advanced BJJ/Sambo. There has been times (truthfully ALOT of times) where I have been submitted by him where it was more of his natural reflex than a long thought out attempt. That comes with the hours and hours of training and drilling, as well as experience.
Again Amir, great work and I hope to see you in RVA soon.
How's it feel to be the Ultimate Fighter, Amir? Let us know with another blog! haha
Wow! I have been a great fan of forrest griffin because of his humbleness and offcourse his great fighting skills I knew one day he will be the champion, so my point now is I believe you will be the next champion for sure because the kind of person you are!! A GREAT ONE THAT IS!! I am so happy for you. You totally deserve it so enjoy every minute. Me my husband and my whole family a great fan of yours and we have total hope that you will definetly go far in this profession. May Allah bless you with alot of success.
I picked you for my champion as I do at the beginning of every Ultimate Fighter season. You have the "Forrest" quality that I measure by. Humor and tenacity. You've made it on the pedestal with my idol. Hope to see you for years to come. Good Luck!
whats up bro...im a huge fan, gotta love the underdog...my question is, are you gonna fight this year...i see a couple of guys from the show are going to be pre lim fights, when does your contract go into effect
Hey Amir..can't say congratulations enough times or as heatedly as in writing as I'd like to. But congrats on the blood, sweat and tears that have paid off. Every time you stepped into the octagon I knew you'd win, and I was never wrong. And the thing about your victories is the way you win...every one is different. In my eyes you trained the hardest, and that"s one of the reasons why you won the title. I am a very proud fan..keep it up. Hope to see you lots more Amir.
