LOS ANGELES - Juan Manuel Marquez, who has won world titles in two weight classes, is looking to go out with a bang on Mexican Independence Day when he challenges lightweight world champion Joel Casamayor on Sept. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on HBO PPV.

Golden Boy Promotions made it official with an announcement at a news conference on Tuesday at the Millenium Biltmore.

The Marquez-Casamayor winner would be the most intriguing fighter to take on WBC 135-pound champion Manny Pacquiao in the future.

Marquez and Casamayor are two of the more technically-sound fighters in boxing. Both can make it a strategic fight, and both have proven their toughness in wild slugfests.
