Heavyweight Aleksander Emelianenko, the younger brother of Fedor Emelianenko, was supposed to fight UFC and Strikeforce veteran Paul Buentello in one of the Fox Sports Net fights on the “Affliction Banned” card on Saturday at Honda Center, but the California State Athletic Commission said Aleksander did not meet all medical requirements.
Aleksander was yanked from the card. Promoter Roy Englebrecht said PRIDE veteran Gary Goodridge passed his medical requirements for a license and will step in and face Buentello in one of the Fox Sports Net fights.
The live “Affliction Banned” card starts at 4 p.m., the Fox Sports Net telecast starts at 5 p.m. and the pay-per-view portion of the card begins at 6 p.m.
