LAS VEGAS - Word out of Antonio Margarito's training camp was the “Tijuana Tornado” reportedly said he would take out WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto in fewer than four rounds when they meet in their showdown on Saturday night at 6 at the MGM Grand on HBO pay-per-view.

Cotto was told about Margarito's comments before his open workout on Tuesday at the Top Rank Gym in Las Vegas.

“If he prepared for just four rounds, it's going to be very painful for him,” Cotto said. “I'm prepared to fight for 12 rounds.”

Margarito stayed in L.A. an extra day to get one more hard day of training in before arriving in Las Vegas late on Tuesday night. He said his comments about stopping Cotto inside of four rounds were taken out of context during an interview on Wednesday morning.

But Margarito did say the fight “would not go the full 12 rounds.”
