World Extreme Cagefighting is headed to Southern California for the first time for WEC 38 on Jan. 25 at San Diego Sports Arena on Versus, WEC vice president Peter Dropick announced on a conference call on Monday.

WEC lightweight champion Jamie Varner (15-2) makes his second title defense against Donald Cerrone (9-0) in the main event

Former WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber (21-2) takes on former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver (22-10-1) in a rematch in the co-maian event. Faber won a five-round unanimous decision over Pulver in the first fight at WEC 34 on June 1.

"We have great fans down there," Dropick said. "There are a lot of gyms down there. The WEC or the UFC has never been to San Diego. We're looking forward to going to Southern California."

Tickets for WEC 38 go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Call (619) 220-8497 or go online at ticketmaster.com for tickets ($35-$175).
