Record 13 bouts set for UFC 103

ppv-ufc-103-headerThe UFC confirmed the final bouts for UFC 103, which will have a record 13 fights on Sept. 19 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Tex.

In the main event, former UFC champions Rich Franklin (27-4, 1 NC) and Vitor Belfort (18-8) hook up at a catchweight of 195 pounds.

In the semi-main event, 2006 Pride Open Weight Grand Prix champion Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (25-6-2, 1 NC) of Zagreb, Croatia, looks to make it two in a row in the octagon when he takes on dangerous Brazilian prospect Junior dos Santos (8-1) in a heavyweight clash.

Las Vegas' Martin Kampman (15-2), who is coming off a split decision victory over former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit, faces former Cage Rage champion Paul "Semtex" Daley (21-8-2) of Nottingham, England, in a welterweight bout. Daley is filling in for Mike Swick, who injured himself in training.

Former UFC welterweight-title challenger Frank Trigg (19-6) of Las Vegas is back in the UFC fold, but he has a tough assignment going up against Fresno's Josh Koscheck (14-4), a former NCAA wrestling champions with 10 wins in the UFC.

Xtreme Couture's Tyson Griffin (13-7), who owns victories over Clay Guida, Gleison Tibau and most recently Rafael Dos Anjos in April, meets decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Hermes Franca (20-7) of Miami, Fla., in an important lightweight fight to round out the pay-per-view portion of the card.

"The Ultimate Fighter 8" lightweight winner Efrain Escudero (12-0), a former All-American wrestler out of Tempe, Fla., takes on TUF 5 veteran Cole Miller (15-3), who is fresh off a submission victory over BJJ black belt Jorge Gurgel, to top the undercard.

Power-punching Drew McFedries (8-5) of Bettendorf, Iowa, hooks up with Tomasz Drwal (16-2) of San Diego in a middleweight scrap.

Jim Miller (14-2) of Sparta, N.Y., has won three of his four fights since signing with the UFC, including a unanimous decision over Mac Danzig at UFC 100, takes on UFC newcomer Steve Lopez (12-1) of South Bend, Ind., in a lightweight bout.

In a matchup of lightweights making their UFC debuts, Nik Lentz (18-3-1) of Eden Prairie, Minn., faces BJJ black belt Rafaello Oliveira (9-1) of Knoxville, Tenn.

Welterweight Rick Story (7-3) of Vancouver, Wash., is looking for his first win in the octagon when he takes on UFC newcomer Brian Foster (14-3) of Granite City, Ill.

TUF 8's Eliot Marshall (7-1) of Boulder, Colo., is looking for his third consecutive victory in the UFC when he takes on Jason Brilz (17-1-1) of Omaha, Neb., in a matchup of light-heavyweight prospects.

Vladimir Matyushenko (22-4) of El Segundo is back in the UFC for the first time in six years when he take son Igor Pokrajac (21-5) of Zagreb, Croatia, in a light-heavyweight bout.

Lightweight Rob Emerson (10-7, 1 NC) of Irvine goes in search of his third UFC win when he battles Rafael Dos Anjos (11-4) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
